safe and drug-free environment  . . .

         The Enough Is Enough Grants Committee was formed under the leadership of Carolyn Jones and Debbie Foster.  When Jones moved into the position of EIE Vice President and Foster became Wood County’s Chief Deputy, both women remained on the committee but handed the chairmanship over to fellow member Shane Shepard. This group worked diligently in 2006 to establish EIE as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, allowing all contributions to be tax deductible as charitable donations.  EIE was granted this status in a two-month record time on June 12, 2006. 

 

         Exempt status allows the organization to apply for  foundation funds.  Last year the group’s efforts resulted in a $5,000 grant from a foundation which has requested to remain anonymous.  Efforts of committee member Julie Adams resulted in a $2000 contribution to Winnsboro’s rehabilitation center for women.  Other grants are pending at this time, and the committee is busy seeking additional funding for the program from other sources.

 

         As reported by Shepard, “The grant process is very  competitive.  There are only a handful of national foundations that will fund programs like Enough Is Enough, and the application process is very competitive.  That is why it is very important to continue fiscal support from the local community and region.  The effectiveness of Enough Is Enough is directly linked to the financials readily available to fight the war on drugs.”  Over the past two years, EIE has received donations from local businesses, churches, and individuals who share our vision to rid the community of illegal drugs.
