Our History

After the tragic drug-related death of a Winnsboro graduate in April 2005, Nub Brown and Heith Mitchell, local youth pastors, consulted with then Police Chief Greg Hollingsworth about what could be done to stop the devastating drug abuse in our community.  A town meeting was called on April 18th with the following letter:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Volunteer Drug Task Force          Winnsboro, Texas

Making our community a

safe and drug-free environment  . . .

    WAKE-UP CALL!

A letter from local ministers, school faculty, city & county officials, and community leaders

At the next meeting on 05-05-05, Winnsboro’s volunteer drug task force was officially created and appropriately named Enough Is EnoughMission and purpose statements were drafted to guide the organization in its efforts.  Committees were formed to address the different issues involved in finding solutions to the drug problem.  In the following months, these individual groups met, established their own specific goals, and began to take action.

Please follow the links at left or below to become acquainted with the various committees of Enough Is Enough.

Over 350 concerned citizens showed up and echoed the cry “Enough is enough!”  Showing that they meant business, they took immediate action to begin to make a change in our community by raising funds to purchase a canine officer for Winnsboro.   Those who wanted to work together towards the solution of the substance abuse problem signed up to participate in a follow-up meeting.

The following letter was sent to parents/guardians of Winnsboro High School students on April 13, 2005.

Some of you may be aware of the tragedy of one our 2004 graduates who was found dead in an apartment this week.  According to reports, drugs were prevalent when officials arrived on the scene.  Several young people of our community were also present.

Each week we read about and hear about drug abuse that is rampant in our community.  How long will we keep our heads in the sand in hope that it will just go away?  How many young people will we have to bury before we decide to take action?  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

P.S.  This is not a meeting just for parents with border-line kids.  This is a community effort to stop drug abuse before it comes to your home.

It’s time for us as a community to stand up and fight for the well-being of our kids.  We have to start somewhere so let’s go.

We will meet you at the WHS Auditorium on Monday night, April 18th at 7:30.  We are asking for all parents with students in the 7th-12th grade to please be present.  We also welcome anyone from the community.  THE MORE THE BETTER!!!
